Interactives, Websites, or Resources
Glencoe Interactive (click on the title)
This interactive is a fun informative way for students to see how scientist can use the properties of a substance to determine what a substance is. In this virtual lab there are eight mystery samples that you will put through four different tests to see what their properties are. By comparing their properties to those of eight known samples, students can identify each mystery substance.
Atoms and Elements (click on the title)
This website has a short video clip/interactive called a Bitesize that is an excellent review of what we have learned about the periodic table and elements in class.
Atoms and Elements (Click on title)
This website is very similar to the Atoms and Elements video clip/interactive listed above, except this is a great review for those that learn better linguistically. This tells in words what the previous link showed. I find both to be a great resource for review.
Acids and Bases (click on title)
This website has three different tests that you can complete. The first test allows you to determine if something is an acid or a base using red and blue litmus paper. The second test allows you to determine what the actual pH level is for several common substances. The third test has you predict how much acid it would take to neutralize a base.
